For those non runners there is always the S"Ooops, word censored!"n Neolithic Marathon. It is a 26 miles walk from Avebury toe Stonehenge. I have done it with my family for the last 4 years. It is quite a challenge but goes through beautiful countryside (the beauty does start to fade after 20 miles though ). You can also do 1/2 or run it all or 1/2. It is hilly and cross country though so I think you would have to be pretty determined or mad to run it

 

I plan to walk again this year providing that I can walk after my marathon exploits

That sounds great I'd love to take the dog.

 

But hubby is running (mad) the Keswick to Barrow the following weekend and that's 42 miles.

I'll be fine tuning my support role

 

I'll pencil in a reminder for for 2011. That year is a 0 birthday year, I plan to make it special and that would fit in nicely

OH is just back from the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon. He did it in 3 hrs 18 mins and was 317 out of about 3,000 (he thinks) . Then he drove back to Edinburgh .

My hubby wants 3.15 at the Brighton Marathon so he gets a good for age place in London

I got it wrong . He was actually 165th overall and 55th out of 475 in the 40+ category . Not bad for an old bloke .
