4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

hi all

 

got my new silkies a few weeks ago- just been handling the bigger silkiehen (told shes about 5 1/2 months) and she has a large (baggy) swelling under her vent between her legs? not sure if she has always had this as been trying to tame them slowly- using treats so not handled her really. its a good couple of inches and soft.

 

shes not laying yet

 

any advice greatly appreciated!

I wonder if it could be a fluid build up. Perotonitis?? Hope she's OK but could be worth a trip to the vets.

I thought the same. It does sound a little odd in a hen so young.

It sounds like something my white silkie has ( she has since been rehomed).

As far as I know she has never laid, & this never bothered her.

might see how she goes over the next few days- typical im away this weekend, always the case

 

she seems her normal self, eating drinking etc- its not so big that she is struggling to walk.

 

any more ideas greatly recieved

thanks everyone- rang the vet friday and they advised that if she is eating/drinking hen to just monitor her and see if anything changes- they are a really good reccommended poultry vet so im hoping that this means i shouldnt worry

 

i also spoke to a lady at the domestic wildlife trust as we just happened to be passing while away

 

and she said before i could even finish- dont worry some just get things like that.

 

problem is im still worrying- dont know whether to pop her along to see a vet on monday or whether i would be wasting my money?
