good shop for grit/oyster shell anyone??

Recommended Posts

Hi.

just wondered if anyone had any advice on where to buy the best value grit for my ex batts. Got the first bag (i think was about 400g) from omlet with the eglu, this has nearly gone in 1 month - are they having too much grit? they have apot which they can help themselves too, but this doesnt seem to get touched so have started mixing it in with the food as am getting softies and not sure which hen is laying them!

Just wondered if anyone has any tips on how much and best price - local supplier of feed doesnt stock it.

thanks in advance

The grit wont help with the softies and you seem to be getting through rather a lot so I would leave the grit or grit and shell mix in the separate pot (it will go down very slowly) and then add either some plain oyster shell or limestone flour to their food to help with the softies

You can get oyster shell on ebay if you cant find it locally. Limestone flour can be purchased from horsey shops

Grit is heavy so best purchased locally, hopefully someone will be along soon to tell you where!
