Hi, as the mornings are darker, I am having to let the girls out in the dark. They are a little confused. I have tried being really quiet and trying not to disturb them as i open the door but no luck so far. Will they just get used to it and remain inside until it brightens up? Shall I set up a light on a photo-cell for them? I usually leave for work at 06.30.

I have to leave at 6.30am too and open the door for the girls then. Sometimes they are still a bit blurry eyed and stumble out but usually they perk up as soon as they spot the food bowl which they manage to do very well in the dark !!

 

I used to worry about having to disturb them so early but in winter when they're going to bed at 4.30 I think they are probably ready to stretch their legs by the morning.

Last winter I just opened the door for them and they came out when they were ready!!!

In the winter mine are always let out in the dark due to the hour difference over here. No problems at all. The girls don't always come out straight away though, but the cockerel does.

yes, I open the door when I leave. Occasionally OH leaves later and then it's his job. ( my nightmare is that he'll forget!!)
