No eggs since Easter

Recommended Posts

Both my girls stopped laying around Easter this year. Since then we've had the odd egg every now and then. One has recently started moulting, but seems to be laying every other day. The other has simply stopped. She was the best layer, everyday without fail. I feed them only layer pellets and some corn in the afternoon. I've given a worming treatment, licing treatment, tried china eggs in the nest, a tonic in their water, oyster shell and threats of becoming Sunday dinner. Bought some 'free range' eggs to supplement, but they were awful. She not showing any signs of being egg bound. She eats well, scratches well.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Sometimes that just seems to happen :? . Two of my girls (about 2 1/2 yr old) have both stopped (apart from the occasional softie from one). I, too, have tried everything I could think of but ended up getting 2 extra chickens  .

Not sure my wife would go for more chickens. :D

Have they been wormed? If not I'd give them a course of Flubenvet.

Are they free ranging? Why not confine them to the run for a few days and give them just pellets and water. That might start them off again.

Yip done that for about 3 months.

On the positive, she laid an egg just to spite me. I'm happy, really. :D
