Ginger has lost a lot of weight recently. She hasn't laid properly for several months, apart from lash, but I think thats just an age thing. She is eating I have been checking her crop although her poos are a little on the runny side. She doesn't seem ill though, she seems like her normal self.

Any suggestions?

Yes I have wormed her recently. She didn't eat the whole sachet but she ate the majority of it.

She is two and a half years old.

I'd worm her again with Flubenvet. Sounds as if you have used Verm-X which isn't much cop in my experience.

Hope it wasn't Verm-x because the smallest size that comes in is 250g, which is the equivalent of 100 doses - mind you, I think you could say she had definitely been wormed!!

 

Seriously, if she's eating well, it sounds like she isn't getting full nourishment from her food. It might be worth getting a droppings sample analysed by your vet (or you can do it direct with Retfords www.retfordpoultry.co.uk) as this may throw some light on her predicament so you know what you're dealing with.

 

It's sad, but sometimes the best laying hens put so much effort into laying that they literally wear themselves out and into an early grave. I hope this isn't the case with Ginger and that you can find the cause and get her the appropriate treatment. Good luck
