attenbhp
I have some bumberbits to fit to two of my three hens. So I got the circlip pliers, and my eldest son, and had no problem getting the first hen fitted up. Then I grabbed the second one. But her nostrils don't seem to be as well defined. The first one had fleshy slits, with a definite hole at the upper end. So I shoved the prongs in the holes, and everything was fine. The second hen has fleshy slits, but doesn't seem to have the holes at the end. I had a go with the bits, but couldn't seem to get a decent fit. All I succeeded in doing was bruising the flesh and causing some distress. So I gave up. Are the holes in there, but covered up with the fleshy bits? Or do I have a mutant chicken? My semi-bald chicken is relying on me stopping her torturers from pullinbg out her nice new feathers.
ubereglu
She'll definitely have nostrils. Any chance of a picture?
TAJ
The fleshy slits are the nostrils, sometimes the end of the beak nearest the nostrils has a little grove sometimes refered to as the 'false nostril' - so you need to aim for inside the fleshy bit, not the beak indent infront of the nostril.
