C&T
Hi all, Found a rather nice onion marmalade recipe, and plan to make some for Christmas Presents along with other bits and pieces. My question is - Do you know how long this will keep? I assumed it would be like jam, and keep for many months, and had planned to make it this weekend as have some time off. But I've since read it should be consumed within 2 months. The recipe I have found that I liked doesn't say anything about how long it might keep... Thanks! Cinnamon
I think the one in the River Cottage preserves book says a year
C&T
Well, I took the plunge, and made a load yesterday and today. 2 different receipes - as I bought too many onions for the the first one... Will have to see which one is the best! I've also made a load of mincemeat ready for the mince pies nearer Christmas. As a result I am now feeling very festive - yet it's still only October! jan246
Hi C&T, any chance you could post the recipe? I have made green tomato chutney in past but no toms and fancy a change. Thanks, Jan

C&T
Glad Poet helped - I have managed to lose one of my receipes! Was making labels for the jars at the weekend - and had to try and remember what I had used... Am now worried for some peculiar reason that I may have put flour in, so can't give any to part of the family that can't eat flour just in case... The other one was Delia. Came out a little dry though, and not as tasty as I thought it might be with port and everything else in there. Probably just me, but couldn't recomend her receipe. (You can google it if want to find it.)
jan246
Cheers C&T, I have all my ingredients now and ordered some jam jar covers which should arrived tomorrow. Looks like my house vwill be full of lovely onion marmalade smells this weekend! Yummy! I have an old Delia book and I swear by her yorkshires, perfect 99.9% of the time! beat that Aunt Bessie . Her green tomato chutney is good but I know you cant trust her on everything! Will let you know how it tastes, and then will have to give most of it away for xmas coz I`m supposed to be losing weight Jan
