Old Speckled Hen
Did anybody get to see this? The nearest it got to me was Lancaster and only for one day and I missed it I'll have to see if LoveFilm has it.
Egluntyne
They do. **Click**. I'm hoping that Father Christmas will read this and take the hint.
Janepie33
I'm going to see it on Saturday with a friend and my sister. It's on in Belsize park. I'm really looking forward to seeing it. Friend and sister are not so sure, they are coming along to humour me and keep me company. I'll let you know how I get on.
Old Speckled Hen
Well I accidentally found this on at an arthouse cinema in Ambleside so I can answer my own question. It's described as an "Indie Mockumentary" I must admit Derek Jacobi and Harriet Walter were delicious enough to eat with that gloriously fruity way with words that only the classically trained thesps are good at but the rest of the film? PLEASE It takes real directing talent to keep the tongue in cheek momentum going and this film doesn't have it. It was absolutely cringing codswallop. Sorry, there were some great ideas but nothing was done with them. The audience tittered at a few puerile jokes but was largely silent. Shame really as the press releases and all the hype with petitions to get it screened more widely hinted at a work of art. Just my take on it
laurmurf
oh what a shame.... and missed opportunity! I've been so looking forward to seeing this.
Janepie33
Saw it today in Belsize Park. I LOVED it! It's a very quirky British film with some great acting. I am rather fond of Morris dancing and we were entertained by the Westminster Morris Men outside the cinema just before the film started. It's a shame Old Speckled Hen didn't enjoy it. Don't let that put anyone seeing it and making up their own minds. It was quite nice to have Richard Lumsden and Sophie Thompson (2 of the actors in the film) sitting 2 seats away from us with their children.
