chickens:1, local moggy: 0 :D

Recommended Posts

Well, I know my two mogs occasionally investigate the eglu and cube, but the other neighbourhood mogs tend to avoid our garden (mainly because our Oscar-the-big-black-cat-with-three-teeth-and-a-gammy-hip is top cat around here :lol: ).

Until today that is.

pottered out to get the eggs my ladies so kindly provide us with, Got to the WIR, out shot the biggest long haried cat I have ever seen... mayhem ensued, with the girls bokking furiously at said cat, flapping wings like mad in its general direction...

Poor cat, turned tail and ran, straight into the gigantic chickens that are Flo and Etty.. he actually jumped OVER them to get away, both hens looked utterly disgusted and sohuted at the cat, who cleared the 6ft fence behind our greenhouse in one leap :lol::lol::lol:

Chooks 1, Cat 0 methinks :clap::dance::clap:

(just had to add that while all this is going on, aforementioned Oscar and his partner in crime Trouble the Tabbycat were snoozing on the sofa in the sunshine :roll::eh: So much for guarding their chickens!!)

It seems to be chickens:2, cats:1 in our household. It started off with Ozzy stalking them, but Megan was having none of it and chased him away. Chickens:1, Ozzy 0. He then got cornered in the Eglu when the girls returned and had to be let out of the egg port! Chickens 2: Ozzy 0.

However today as he was coming out of the cat flap the girls were in wait for him. He wasn't having any of it and stared them down, and finally managed to get out. He stood up for himself without being aggressive, and it seems they have come to some kind of arrangement whereby there is mutual respect but they ignore each other provided neither is trying it on. Chickens 2: Ozzy 1.

Don't seem to have seen any other moggies in our garden recently 'though :) The chickens are a better deterrent than our three pampered and lazy cats!

yes, the chickens win every time :o . I have 2 newly aquired GNRPP and 3 cats and a dog. 2 of the cats like to roost in the (pink eglu) , and the other is soooo uninterested she rarely even goes outside. Garfield was "roosting" away today, and sheltering from the rain, when GNR pumpkin decided she was going in to lay her egg :lol: ! There was alot of noise then out shot Garfield looking even more grumpy than normal and even breaking out into a sort of run. He was stupid enough to try reentering the (pink eglu) but Bungee the PP then attacked him :lol::lol: . He was totally shocked, looked around, then came into the house, moved Hoover the lab from his basket, then curled up in the dogs bed :lol:

Chickens 2; cat 1; dog 0
