Can eggshells change colour. I found a small white egg when

I collected them after work today. Prue had laid her usual brown egg and their was a small white egg next to it. could my blue egg laying chook have laid a white egg or has Pipa the freeloader finally started laying.

I think it must be Pipa as it is a very slightly different shape to Coco's. At least they all lay different coloured eggs so it will be easy to know who has laid. Its not bad for a first egg 43g and she is tiny, not much bigger than a bantam.

I hope you don't mind my hijacking ...

... and if Pipa is finally laying, then that's great!

But one of my hens DID start laying eggs of a different colour. All of them used to lay brown-shelled eggs. We moved their walk-in run to another part of the garden - and Lucille started to lay white-shelled eggs. This was more than three months ago. Her diet hasn't changed, she's spry as ever and the other hens continue to lay brown-shelled eggs.

So I'm curious if anyone else has had this experience or might know why it's come about.

Or maybe it's just magic. :D

Meanwhile, I hope you continue to enjoy three beautiful eggs every morning.
