coco
I've had all the girls free ranging together this morning, apart from the odd peck from the ex batts and them chasing my old girls they seem to be starting to settle down. I went out to check on them to find the ex batts had dug a huge hole in the old girls big run and were having lovely time dustbathing, they have been in there for about an hour now. Pipa is strutting up and down looking very disgruntled althoug she did venture up to them to see what they were doing. Will post pics when I can download them. dippy bird
I have had my ex bats for 4 weeks now,and they are fab. They are absolutely fine with my original girls and have learned lots of new tricks from them already.i.e when I open the back door I now have 9 hens bombing down the garden to me all hoping for treats! I love it that they have settled in so fast.
mostin
Sounds like they are settling in really well, typical ex-batts taking over the joint . My ex-batts rule the roost, and the tiniest girl terrifies my cockerel who weighs about 8 times more than she does . Their characters seem to be much larger than any other type of chook I've ever had.
Space Chick
You are right Mostin, I think having hard a very hard start in life they make up for it when they have freedom My 3 ex batts are adorable, and rather crazy
coco
Prue and ex batt Lily seem to getting on realy well, even escaped together this afternoon. Both Ex batts spent most of the afternoon in the dustbath. Ex batt Lola seems to be a bit of a bully and constantly chases poor litle Pipa who is bottom of the pecking order anyway. I'm off next week so they will have more free ranging time together. they have yet to meet Coco properly yet as she has gone broody and spends most off her time sitting on imaginary eggs. mostin
My ex-batts were very aggressive to a couple of my girls at the bottom of the pecking order when they arrived. I found a few sprays with a water pistol soon stopped that , and then harmony reigned again .
