Comb - odd appearence - Update and more symptoms

Recommended Posts

Hi

Barbara, since Sunday, has some odd patches on her comb, just in one area in the middle.

Its similar to when we get nettle stings and the skin colour changes colour, so the patch is

pale pink/white and the rest of her comb is red.

Barbara had been a bit mopey also but passed a whole soft egg during the night.

There coop is reguarly treated for mites and I dusted them all with red mite powder yesterday.

Any ideas ?

Regards

Liz

Sorry, Liz, I don't have an answer except to say sometimes one or two of my chickens get a slightly mottled look to their combs but are fine otherwise.

Purple combs can indicate a problem but that doesn't sound like a problem for Barbara.

Hopefully Barbara has cheered up following her softie.... and is she is eating and drinking happily then fingers crossed she should be fine!

Hi again

Barbaras comb seems to be getting a little worse - it looks like little blisters

I have no idea what could have caused - any ideas ?

Apart from this, she is fine, eating / drinking / talking

I have bathed and put some animal tee tree lotion on her comb

Hi

This morning I have bathed Barbaras comb again in a solution of diluted hibiscrub and applied some more tee tree lotion. She had some white spots on her comb and looking in a book, it could be pox ??

Aside from this, there was some food in her crop from yesterday and her poo is not solid (not sure if all the time as not there)

I also think she has lost weight (my husband will weigh her when he gets home).

She is also molting quite alot.

This said, she is not mopey, she drank and ate before I left to go to work. However, she is getting older now and I am anxious about her welfare and overall happiness.

Do you think something is wrong or she is just getting older ?

We have had her for 16 months now and she is a very special chook as she sits on my lap for cuddles but I don't want her to be unwell.

I have ordered some oregostimi today and she will have some tuna in special pellet mash later. Is there anything else I should do ? I can take her to the vets but not sure they will be able to help ??

Regards

Liz
