chocolateeclaire
When I first got my chickens the cats thought that all their dreams had come true - but now it is their nightmares!!!! The chickens patrol the deck waiting for treats and refuse to let the cats use the catflap!!! The cats have developed different ways to try and get past - one runs at full pelt, one moves half a pace and then freezes like a statue, one waves his paws at them and nearly always gets pecked and the other two wait in the rain looking pathetic!!!! It's a shame!!! Claire
docsquid
Ours queue up outside the cat flap too! Ozzy initially thought they were dinner but when Megan flew at him, he decided to give them a wide berth. Willoughby isn't bothered by them, nor they by him. Squeaker goes out of the cat flap and straight behind the bin for a bit of cover! Ozzy sits and looks pathetic until I shoo them away and he can get out. Poor little moggies! Plum
Poor puddy cats. Think its time for some chicken netting or patrol with water squirter. That will keep them big fierce chickens at bay.
MargotT
My cats are exactly the same! They’ll happily chase a fox around the neighbouring field for hours but when confronted with a free-ranging hen they're petrified with fear . Birds=dinner and dinner should not fight back! Chickens obviously haven't read the rule book and it isn't fair and the cats all go off and sulk. Foxes=competition and therefore they are fair game and expected to fight back.

If he puts on a tiny show of resistance Max and Eli may become petrified of him too
