okay to keep quail in?

Recommended Posts

we've bought our brooder and incubator ready to hatch some quail in the spring. This is where we're thinking of putting them when they're big enough to go outside

we're using the left hand side of the run for the quail. DH will make a better partition between the chicken section and the quail section so there's no possibility of the twain meeting!

The run is 6 foot high and we'll put some logs and branches in for them to perch on and some pots for them to hide in.

Will they sleep in the eglu do you think? It's a guinlu so no roosting bars to worry about.

What do you think?

Yep, as long as you get some smaller weldmesh to put on the partition it should be good :D

Are you raising the partition to the roof? If not they'll jump over the top

Put a few plant tops and small conifers in to hide under + they'll love it.

It also helps that there will be a door separating their part of the run, and the door to the outside because if they get out they could be gone :(

If it were me I'd swap the coop and eglu round, because the quail might not use it all the time to sleep in - saying that if you shut them up at night you could always pop them in the (green eglu):)

thanks lewis.

yep, the partition will be all the way to the roof and it will be of small size mesh.

That's not a coop, it's just a link between the walk in run and the cube run, the big girls sleep in a cube.

thanks again for all your advice here and on facebook, you're a star! xxxx
