docsquid
I normally put the chickens back into their run by 3.30pm, as if I leave it until 4pm they tend to take to the bushes and start to roost. I was busy writing a long e-mail to a friend in Russia and lost track of the time/general level of darkness. In a panic I noticed it was almost 4pm, and went outside, fully ready to retrieve chickens from bushes only to find... ...they were all clustered close to the run door waiting to be given their mealworm treats and go to bed! A few mealworms later and they were happily locked away in the run. Good girls!
sjp
mine finally took themselves off at 4:25pm but I think that was because i started to herd them towards the door

Chicken Shirl
It's a relief when they know what they are doing. Maybe leave the run door open for them, then if you do get delayed they will take themselves in and off to bed. With or without their mealworm treat. docsquid
I do leave the run door open for them, but Gwennie in particular likes perching in bushes more than in the cube, so tends to try and roost out of the run. However today they were good as gold, waiting for their chicky-treats and I hope that eventually they will take themselves into the cube. I like to get them in the run in good time!
