chickenopolis
This morning Flo flew out of the cube, crashed into the side of the run and came down on the grub feeder. She seemed OK, I let them out and then Flo developed a bit of a limp/odd looking gait when she walked. She hasn't foraged much for worms today, just let me dig them up for her. She laid an egg this morning (Before the crash landing), has been eating throughout the day (grass, mealworms, lettuce, worms, grapes and her usual complete food), and is now giving herself a preen in the run. My OH picked her up earlier, and I tried to feel her legs, and feet but I couldn't feel/see anything different. She is as vocal as always, should I take her to the vet, or just monitor it. I don't think she has broken anything, but I don't know?? Can anyone help please??? Thanks. Sarah x
Egluntyne
I would monitor it, and perhaps give her extra calcium which can help. If her limp is causing her real discomfort, it might be a good idea to give her 24-48 hours cage rest, because she will try to keep up with her companions and this might aggravate things. Have you a cat carrier that you could put her in during the day......and place it in the run so that she can see her pals?
Mattaz
One of my hens had a bit of a limp once i took her leg tag off and we gave her crushed egg shells and made sure she she had plenty of food and water and the limp wore off and by the next morning she was fine.
