i am interested in buying a cube

something that concerns me is that

i have been advised that roosting bars should preferably 12-18" inches off the ground otherwise the welfare of the birds will suffer as they cannot perth properly and are just lying on thier keels ,

surely 16,0000 eglu owners cannot be wrong , am i missing something here

please advise

I'm no expert but I can't see that the height of a perch makes any difference at all . They just need a little room underneath for their feet to grip round the perch (an inch or so would be all that's required). The height of a perch has no bearing on whether they are "lying on their keels" - they'll sit however they want whatever height they're at .

 

I'm prepared to be corrected but would be surprised if I need to be . All our eglu and cube dwelling chickens seem happy and healthy enough .

it's not the height it's the width that counts

kell bone deformaty is usally do to birds roosting on the floor with not enough bedding or the wrong sized bars
