Why won't they go outside?

Recommended Posts

Hi

Can someone advise?

I have 3 Rhode Island Reds (21 weeks old) and 3 white leghorns (24weeks old) They stay in their house all day and won't go outside at all unless I am with them. maybe they don't feel safe on their own???

Also they haven't started to lay yet but I'm not too concerned about this is it is a bit early for them?

Any advise would be appreciated

Cheers

Bob

How strange, you do get hens that stay inside for a week or so but five weeks is qite a long time

I guess they may have been raised indoors so are not at one with the outsde world yet

Whatever the reason is as long as they seem well and are eating and drinking I would not worry to much, they will make their way outside eventually

You could try puttng the food and drink a couple of feet out in to the run to see if that encourages them out
