art12345
we have our run on slabs at the minute which is fine in the summer but i worry that it is cold for the chilckens in winter. Could i put some hay or straw down for them? which is best?
Redwing
Def not hay Straw is ok but messy and compacts in the wet, if you are looking to put something in the run them woodchips would be ok Horse beddings such as Aubiose are ideal if the run is covered and sheltered
Egluntyne
I'd say neither too, especially hay. I always use Aubiose, a hemp based horse bedding, which is super for the job.
Plum
Slabs are hard for them, they like to scratch around. I've used woodchip, hemcore and easibed. For the horsebeddings you need to cover the run to keep it drier and the woodchip actually works better with shelter. I put Ikea shower curtains over the run.
