iandjsmum
Hi Everyone I am new to this and had a go at putting louse powder on my chickens today. Much harder than I thought it would be!!!! I think you need 3 hands to do it properly. Can anyone give me any advice as to how to get this into the birds and where exactly and also how frequently? Most of it seemed to get on me. Will it hurt if I try to rub it into them? Many thanks
Redwing
I put mine in a puffer bottle (dry empty washng up liquid or sports bottle works well) Then I hold my bird to my tummy and place one hand on its legs with a finger between them so they dont rub together and gently tip the bird upsde down, they do flap for a bt then they stop and relax, once upside down their feathers stand away from their body and I use the puffer bottle to get powder in down to the skin and give it a rub in Tipping a bird isnt for the faint hearted and it must be done quickly and gently so as not to frighten the bird If you dont fancy trying that then yes you can rub, do it gently against the feathers to work the powder down to the skin Always pay special attention to the tummy, under the wings and around the vent
