the little monkeys ran out the eglu run this morn after i spent ages diggng them out so i could give them food and water and will not go back in

i gave the and a good clean out, as i was like a snow man anyway , and managed to get the kids (off school as schools closed) to help , but will the girls go in ..........no way.

even meal worms didnt work

the little monkeys are boc bocking about under the trampoline, then jumping up and down in the snow with both feet together . i keep going outside to dig them a path to their run as the snow comes up to their necks its soooooo deep

does anybody else have naughty snow loving chucks? i thought they would like to stay warm and dry

my chook took one step out the eglu then promptly returned to the roosting box

wot on earth is the matter with my 4 they are still playing in the snow & now its going dark

Mine decided they wanted to go back out again just as it was starting to snow and get dark. However when faced with the reality of the situation they preferred it in the run!

i did wonder earlier, if one of my cats was roosting in the eglu (as they do tend to), but they are far to wise to venture out

All three of our cats are upside down on the duvet with their paws in the air and no intention of moving Thank You Very Much. I've now got to persuade DH that the new hot water bottle we bought before Christmas for his Mum should be put in the poo tray of the cube...wish me luck!

my 4 have chosen to now go in the run of (they really dont like the (i think its an awful colour too!).

the is under loads of snow and has no treats hanging in it & no food and no cover on the run at all

the is under big trees, and so that is mainly clear of snow, and has treats hanging in a covered run, and food and water

my chucks are barmy but hopefully not tooooooo cold

make sure your DH doesnt give the hot water bottle to his mum after the chucks have used it.

I nearly bought one of the home brew belt heaters to go round the glug to stop it freezing during the day.

I have one very badly behaved chook. She never wants to come in . I have learnt the hard way and never let them out to FR if I have any plans to leave the house within half an hour !

They KNOW when you are busy !!

Just a thought - could it be that they are too scared of the white stuff to cross it to go back in? I've had to rescue wet chickens sheltering down the garden from the rain - because they won't cross the great divide back to the shelter of the run.

I don't think mine are going to be very pleased tomorrow.... 4inches and still snowing!

 

I'll let you know if mine dance in the snow, but I don't think so...

2 inches snow here in 1.5 - 2 hours . !! The snowflakes are enormous

still loads snow up here this morn but not snowing at mo! kids all still off school. chucks still insisting on free ranging in all the snow & still doing the "snow dance"

im wondering if its because their feet are cold
