Condensing boilers freezing up...tip off

Recommended Posts

£450 was for their Homecare 400, it covers the boiler, annual service and inspection, plumbing and drains, central heating and indoor electrics, but the rest of it doesn't go that often. We checkrd online what it would cost to take out as a new customer and it was significantly cheaper. When OH queried this, she said 'oh a lot of other people have said that too.' Shouldn't that tell them something??

Re Worcester Bosch. Our friend who's doing our boiler repair recommends them too. He said their service and extended warranty is excellent. My brother's a plumber in South Wales and he fits their boilers too.

Hi guys, Ive go to say that we echo lots of the comments made on here. We have BG Homecare, but, when the chips are down they simply cannot deliver. This has meant that owing to the fact that our condenser (recommended, and fitted by them last year) has frozen up several times over the holidays - all becasue of poor fiting. The condenser pipe runs outside by quite a length, and is not lagged. Their recommendation to me was that I should lag it !!!!. I decided that enough was enough. The boiler is situated in the corner of our garage, so I decided to remove the useless waste pipe, shorten in inside the garage, I then purchased a slimline water butt from B & Q and have diverted the condensate via a lagged pipe into the butt. Its been in operation now for three days and the water level hasnt yet rached the tap at the base. When it does, I'll simply empty it into a jug and pour down the drain . In the summer, if I can be bothered I may divert it into the outhouse toilet which is situated about five feet away. Why they didnt do that in the first place I dont know, Ive informed BG by e amil of what I have done - but three days later they still havent replied. I cant really see that I am breaching any health & safety issues. Anyway, thats our solution , and believe me , its taken a great weight off our mind. We will consider moving to Worcester Bosch cover in the new year.
