CharLeila
hi, Don't know if its my girls or something the farmers have put on the fields but there is a really horrible smell outside. My cube doesn't smell, nor does the garden waste bin which has some poo in from the last time I cleaned them out. (which was saturday). Just wondering if anyone else has a problem with nasty smells and if so, what to do about it? Cheers
Olly
Well I think you need to track down where it's coming from! If it's your Cube/run you would surely be able to identify it? Generally, hens don't smell - chicken poo can smell if it is left lying around, but if you clean regularly it shouldn't be a problem. Feeding garlic powder helps to reduce the very acidic smell of the chicken poo. Have you got woodchip down, and has it got very wet? It just occurs to me that this might be a problem. I'd have a good scout around to find out where it's coming from first, though.
The Dogmother
As Olly said, it's unlikely to be your hens, especially in this weather. I recommend a sprinkle of Stalosan and then cover with Aubiose in the run.
