Mincepies
Hello - I've joined Omlet today in the hope someone can advise me what to do if a hen becomes eggbound. One of my four ISA Browns, Betty, sadly died this morning after appearing unwell for a couple of days and I feel terrible for not doing more for her. I've since looked up her symptoms on the net and it sounds as if she was eggbound. Advice varies from culling to trying to ease the egg out manually. If this ever happens again with the other girls, I'd gladly give them a hand to get the egg out if it helps - has anyone experienced this and can you advise on the best way to do it? This is the first chicken I've lost and they are my pets so I feel very sad about it.

Mincepies
Thank you, that's really useful. I had brought her indoors for a while but put her back in the coop for the night; obviously now I wish I'd kept her in the house At least now I'll know what to do in future.
