Cranfield Kate
i can't seem to find anywhere how long the hen takes to make an egg. does anyone know? for example, if i get an egg on a monday morning, when did the hen start making it? sjp
it's about 24-26 hours closer to 26 but can't for the life of me remember were I read it

grracee
I read the same, about 25 hours i think. So if you have a hen laying everyday it should get a little bit later each day, then she will lay as what is known as a "clutch" of eggs, stop for a couple of days then start again. docsquid
Ours seem to do this, except that after the day off, there is sometimes a double-yolker.
Cranfield Kate
that would explain why they're getting later. that really is interesting. who'd've thought.
