Henhathnofury
After a hard winter of eggless moulting, my Light Sussex Narcissa is back to full featherdom and is so full of beans that she is becoming naughty. Apart from often flying over her fencing (I know, we have to clip) for a jolly stroll around the garden, she is a little hyperactive. She was eating with the others yesterday and she swung up her leg and gave my poor little Desdemona a ringing blow to the head. She was too busy eating to use her beak, I suppose. Has anyone else got chickens who use their feet in this way? It's not a behaviour I have seen before. She is becoming a real little madam. Patricia W
It's cockerel behaviour - my Phillip used to try to do that to me, until I tamed him. The aim is to damage with feet and spurs. One of my hens does that with Babs who is bottom of the pecking order. Get a water pistol if it continues Tricia
Henhathnofury
So far I have only see her do it once and I was there to tell her off. Cockerel behaviour? Well the eggs tell me that she has not gone in that direction... Will watch her now though and invest in a water pistol.......
Henhathnofury
Well she hasn't done it again so I am hoping that it was a one-off. But she is still hyperactive....

Henhathnofury
I knew there was something I was doing wrong. I'll just let her have a little expresso....just the one....
