Has anyone got any recommendations for somewhere to stay for the night nearish to Calais? We are off to Brittany in the May halfterm and want to stay somewhere near Calais for a night on the way back, to help break the journey up. We would need a triple or family room.

No specific hotels but Dover is right near Calais and a lovely historic town to visit! Always used to do our booze cruise weekends with the stay in Dover - castle, tunnels, Dover Experience, and we found a fantastic chinese restaurant in the town.

 

In fact we often never even got off the boat - if we did we would just drive straight to Belgium for the shopping and straight back to the boat again a couple of hours later!

I love the Formula 1 hotels for nights on the hop

 

You get a room which has a double bed with a single bunk above, the rooms arent massive and have no loo or shower just a basin (loo and shower down the hall, they are on automatic clean mode so are very clean) everything is basic but very clean, breakfast is a few pounds and again very basic but they are warm and generally well maintained hotels, I'm a big fan!

 

They are everywhere in France so Calais will have one close to the port I bet..

Hi,

we stayed at the Kyriad which is in Calais - it has a crazy golf course right next to it and is also just across the road from the lovely beach. The rooms are nice and the food is lovely.We had a triple room last year. Will defo go back.

I'll second the Formule 1 hotels as well - not always easy to get to as they are often on the edge of the Industrial Zones. Always clean though and have super-duper toilets which clean themselves after every visit!
