Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Since last Friday one of my females (6 weeks old) has not been able to walk properly, and her head is permanently bent over. When she tried to walk her legs splay out and the toes on her left foot seem to be floppy. She is still eating, drinking and preening herself fine.

 

Yesterday when I was giving her a bath (she was a bit pooey) I notice that to the right of her neck she had an air-filled sac about the size of a marble under her skin! I carefully popped it with a needle and squeezed the air out (this didn't seem to hurt her) and this morning she seems a bit happier, and is sitting up a lot more.

 

Has anyone come across this before??

could this be down to the 'boink' factor? do you think shat she has hurt herself jumping up, hitting the roof? my girls are rather stupid and do this all the time. i have had to pad the hutch!
