corinneschickens
I received my chickens only 6 days ago and they are doing great however I don't have enough knowledge to understand why one part of my chickens breast hangs down lower than the other side. I have two chickens one Pepperpot with a lop sided breast and one Gingernut which is fine. I have examined but cant see anything out of the ordinary apart from some ruffled feathers. Does anyone have any ideas? They both seem very perky and i have already recieved two 's

corinneschickens
That's what my partner though but it seems to be all day long it looks like this. Can they ever get blockages? Many thanks for the advice
The Dogmother
Their crop (on the right breast side) should be empty at the beginning of the day, and full once they have been eating. It will gradually get bigger during the course of the day, and then empty again overnight. If her crop is still full when you let them out of the eglu in the morning, then read this thread. I am sure that she is fine. Did you go on a chicken keeping course before you got your hens? It might be a good idea to find one near you, to give you confidence and help stop you worrying. If you click on the courses tab at the top of the site page, then you will see all the courses listed.
corinneschickens
Many thanks for the advice. I have been on one of your chicken courses and found it very informative and I guess im probably over worrying, but will keep an eye out in the mornings to see if the bulge decreases in size. There is a noticeable difference between one chickens crop and the other but like humans i expect ones greedy and the other is looking after its figure! Thanks again and lets hope this doesn't turn into anything.
The Dogmother
Some chooks do tend to over-eat, and then they lose the elasticity in their crop. Just keep an eye on her if she's greedy
