pud1954
Hello I have two White Sussex boys I think that I hatched in the summer, but at 22 weeks they have not started making a noise which is great as I will have to get rid of them when they do.Could I be wrong, the feathers and tail all point to Cockerels... Chook n Boo Mum
No, when they are ready they will crow...........I'd say any time now really My boy started just before Christmas at about 21 weeks & didn't stop so had to be rehomed .....I did warn him, keep your beak shut & you have a home here, start hollering & you are out on your ear.................he was out on his ear on 30th December Once they start they'll probably have a competition who can crow the loudest and the longest , good luck! You could always post us some piccies & we can advise you.....Griffin's very good at sexing Sussexes much earlier....even I can manage at 21 weeks (last summer I had a run of "she/he"s, so my record is not good with sexing ! bellekatz
My Buff Orp boy was 9 months before he started to crow - he was probably a very late developer though!!
LJ's Chooks
Our orp was late too... But he's definitely got the hang of it now! He sounded like he had a sore throat for the first couple of months though... One of my neighbours thought it was an owl!
