prudance
Hi, Please could anyone give me some fancy dress ideas for a 5 year old for National book week. I had been imagining a couple of book characters until she came home with a letter from school that said her year group theme is Transport. Don't want anything too bulky such as a big box made to look like a car. It's only a small classroom, a couple of those and there'll be no room for the kids! Because of her age it's got to be something that she can easily get out of herself. I have a sewing machine and I'm not afraid to use it - I just can't think of anything to do other than big bulky things. The only costumes I've seen online that fit the theme have all been boring pilot or captain uniforms. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Space Chick
How about an astronaut? You can't get cooler transport than that, and the shuttles have been in the news again

prudance
Thank you. There's some good ideas there for other occasions too. Hard to get my head round the book theme and the transport theme at the same time. Might go for Pirates, boats, and long john silver. Though at just 5 I haven't got round to reading Treasure Island to her yet!
