Is my pekin bantam male or female?

I have a sablepoot or booted bantam that has always walked a bit funny.

 

When she was little we took her back to the breeder who thought she had prob sprained it.

 

She has started crouching and going in and out of the nest box getting ready to lay but i cant feel an egg underneath

 

Have had a really good look today and it seems she has no feeling or grip in her foot at all. Her toes are close together but flat not curled and she seems to be walking on her leg rather than her foot.

 

If this is mereks will it get worse?

If not any tips for aiding a disabled chicken.

 

Other than the above she is a very healthy happy chicken

She might have some sort of pressure on a nerve.

 

I'd have her to the vet. 'Knuckling' isn't generally a good sign I'm afraid.

Are her leg scales raised at all? My next door neighbour's bantams all has scaly leg mite and started doing this, so check that too.

took her to the vets and he is not sure what is wrong but is treating her for an inflamed joint. I have to give her an injection tomorrow under the skin alongside the breast bone.

Not looking forward to that.

 

She has quite stressed at the vets and would only walk backwards. she is hobbling forward again now and we will just have to see how she progresses.
