So after spending AGES Talking to my mum, we chose Silkies Now i have a couple of Questions. What day do you stop turning Silkie Eggs (We've gone for the L/F) Will they need more heat in the brooder than normal feathered chicks? How long can they be kept on chick crumbs? Redwing Posted March 6, 2010 Share Posted March 6, 2010 stop turning at day 18 No they dont need extra heat but they may stay on heat longer and may need more shelter on going outside You could keep them on chick crumbs till about 9 or 10 weeks if you wanted to, they arent very quick to mature - somewhere between 6-8 weeks is more normal though Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
