novice keeper ,maybe a silly question

Recommended Posts

i have 4 birds got them as pol about 3 weeks ago .ive had at least one egg aday since i got them

twice ive found a white egg in the box that has been cracked(big double yolkers),i also found a very pale shell in the run the other day and all the others have been brown

today i have had 4 eggs all different shades of brown

my question is could the one that laid the white eggs now be laying brown or has one of the other 3 laid 2 eggs in one day ? im a bit confused lol

The egg colours can vary slightly, but won't change colour all together.

For example, white will stay white, browns can vary on their darkness of brown, same can be said of blue and green eggs.

My Romana laid a darker olive green egg last year, and it has gone a paler green colour this year.

Hope this helps.

Sometimes we get a lighter shade of egg before a girl has a rest day, then a darker one that looks like it has been in the oven a bit longer! The biggest eggs and double yolkers are often a lighter shade, with a wobbly end. Sometimes it looks like someone has been ice-skating on the eggs, maybe where it has been turning inside. All part of the rich pattern of life here, but they all taste just as good!
