Lavenders_Blue
One of my girls, Rosie, has laid a couple of soft eggs recently which has left her with egg whitey sticky knickers which are fast becoming very pooey What she really needs is a lovely botty bath, but last time I attempted this with her I'm not sure who was more stressed at the end of the ordeal! She is pretty feral and was highly unimpressed about being plonked in a bowl of water. DH had to get her in a head lock whilst I washed So... this time I am thinking it might be less stressful to all of us to snip the yukky bits out with scissors (whilst the front end is occupied with treaties ), hopefully also reducing the likelihood of future dirty knickers as she doesn't perch at night so can end up a bit mucky anyway. So my question is, will this hurt her? Some of the feathers are pretty mucky and will need about half their length snipping off. Some will need just the ends removing. There are quite a few feathers that will need seeing to. If this is going to cause her pain then we will just have to battle through a botty wash as I can't leave her in a dirty mess, but all round I think snipping the worst of the mess out is a better way to go, even if she will end up with a slightly unattractive feather-do at the end of it. Ain't Nobody Here
I did just that with Poppy not long ago. She had balls of poo stuck fast and I decided snipping was the only way. It was relatively easy to do then I washed the rest of her botty.
