chickinboy
Hi all, In my ongoing battle against feather pulling, I've been trying to increase the protein in my girls' diet. I've been doing the usual, tinned tuna, the odd scrambled egg etc, but obviously without over doing it and ending up with them not getting enough pellets. I was wondering if there was a more long term supplement that would do the job, maybe a tonic or a powder to add to food/water? I already use poultry spice, apple cider vinegar, and occasionally lifeguard....but wondered if there was a one dedicated to protein.....like a protein version of limestone flour that works wonders?!!? What about human protein supplements in tiny doses? That sounds dangerous though. Thanks! Tom
The Dogmother
I usually use mealworms, preferably live ones. Alfalfa is good too, it has a high level of protein and has the added benefit of plenty of other nutrients. The dark chlorophyll makes the egg yolks deep orange too. chickinboy
Thanks Claret. I like the sound of Alfalfa, especially as I'm always very jealous of Jamie Oliver's deep orange yolks! Can I ask where you get it from? After a quick google, it seems to come in lots of different forms.... thanks!
