It's really good and the book I would recommend to a new chicken keeper but it is a good read for any one who likes chickens. The chapters on health and disease are superb. There is a thread about it somewhere on here.

great thanks, i do love to have a read of any chicken book lol, had chickens now over 2 yrs and still learn a couple bits. even the kids love to have a glance of it.

i may just order both (whispers i might order) hubby says i can have one but the hand may slip or ill hide one :D

cant have to many books to look into. :whistle::whistle:

I really like this book, the authors drawings are lovely, very colourful and worth getting for that reason alone. Although it covers the basics of chicken keeping, this is probably covered in more detail in other chicken books. This books strong point is in how it gives a good detailed overview on many common and rare breeds including breed standards & characteristics, breed origins, egg colours & egg production etc. It would make an ideal gift for any chicken lover.
