What makes a chicken coop easy to live with?

One of my ex-bats looks as though she has started trying to lay again. She's one of a batch I've had since March but were resued in Feb and she has never laid. Well, none of them and I have mainly put this down to the fact that thay were mostly bald.

 

Edna, one of the girls has now started vanishing into the nesting box for a little while and then coming out without laying any eggs. She has carried on doing this but now on 2 occasions, there has been what I can only describe as a broken yolk sat running through the straw.

 

They have all been wormed recently, have acv or citracidal in their water, poultry spice in their food and grit is always in their WIR.

 

Anyone got any ideas at all?? I'm hoping it is her way of getting back into the swing of things.

You could try adding some limestone flour to their feed with a dash of codliver oil (to aid calcium absorption)

Thanks. I take it I can give them normal cod liver oil or does it have to be specific. Is limestone flour something that I need to get from a poultry suppliers?

You can get limestone flour from ebay or reptile suppliers. You can also get it from equestrian type shops.

 

I use 'horse' cod liver oil. it works out much cheaper.
