Oh dear!! How depressing nothing current on that at all..mostly because i am now at home with two boys (my oh and my ds) so IF I do manage to watch a film it is always a boys type film which you have said you don't want..but I have to say (not for family viewing)I really enjoyed Snatch and Inglorious "Ooops, word censored!"s too!!

I just watched In Bruges. I know you said not lads shoot em up movies but this was very entertaining in a dark humour way

first time I watched it I thought it was a dark horror - then I realised that its a comedy too

If you do subtitles, check out 'The lives of others' (set in East Germany just before the end of the regime, very touching and brilliantly acted and produced -won an Oscar), and 'Let the Right One in' - Swedish Vampire movie, again surprisingly touching, mixed in with real shocks but nothing like Twilight (not that there's anything wrong with Twilight!)

 

We also loved District 9 and Inglourious Basterds recently.

another very cleverly written and funny foreign film is 'goodbye lenin' it's about a woman in east germany in a coma and she wakes up after the end of communism and her children try to keep it secret from her so as not to upset her. There's one scene that stuck in my mind where they open the hospital curtains and there's a big poster for coca cola on the opposite building so they shut the curtains again quickly! It's really good

My favourite ever subtitled movie is 'Mediterraneo'

Its about a bunch of Italian soldiers who invade a tiny Greek Island towards the end of the war, & they all change in some way.Some fall in love with local girls (& boys!),& some fall in love with the life. Its wonderful

 

My Husband loves the movie 'The worlds fastest Indian' with Anthony Hopkins. I bout it for his birthday yesterday - its a true story & very well acted.
