Derwenna
After a week on antibiotics Ruddy is now dashing about the garden like a mad thing! She's also found her voice and is chattering with the girls although sadly I haven't heard her beautiful deep cluck (she sounded a bit like a goose!). Her feathers are lovely and shiny too although she hasn't got her full appetite back. She's still got a sniffle and is sneezing (can chickens get hayfever ?) but no sign of illness in the other girls. Sadly she is very distrustful of OH and myself after having to catch her everyday and syringe medicine into her beak but I hope that'll change in time. The OH's cricketing experience came in handy when he fielded a chicken at silly backward compost bin! The citricidal arrived today - what's the dilution rate (e.g. 1/4 tea spoon or about 2.5ml per litre)? I'm no good at working these things out! Thank you to everyone who helped me out with Ruddy - despite the research it's a bit daunting as a novice chicken keeper! Derwenna.
