I have 4 chickens and just one of them has had a bald chest for quite a few months now, I have never noticed any

of the others pulling them out. She seems well enough but im concerned now that nothing seems to have grown back.

I also have not noticed loose feathers hanging about either ! I have read it may be because she is broody... but could

she be suffering from some kind of mite?

 

Talking of broody i have one chicken who keeps trying to mount another another of my chickens... and always the

same one...... ......... she literally gets on the other ones back - always a bit of

commotion...... is that normal ?

 

Going back to the featherless breasted one - is there anything i can put on it as it really looks bright red !!!

She could be dustbathing over enthusiastically, or rubbing them on the roosting bars.

 

Perhaps some tea tree and lavender cream would sooth it.

 

The mounting is quite common and is just a display of dominance.
