dixie chick
My stable has been converted into a hen house, with a WIR attached... I have bought the nest material and a load of stuff from the Poultry Trust ...anti pecking spray, iodine, worming medication etc etc...and several books -and spend most evenings glued to this website reading all about your chicken stories! Am so excited about getting my own! But ..my builders are way behind schedule so although the chickens home is ready - mine wont be until end of June so I cant really have my girls living on site without me. I just wondered if anyone knew of any breeders in Cheshire - or reasonably near - where I could visit, order my birds and be sure that I can have them as soon as I move in. I really fancy about 5 or 6 pure breeds ....
Tweety
Hi, I am in Cheshire too and have a mix of hybrids,ex batts and pure breed hens. The pure breeds came either from Wernlas in Shropshire or from Chelford Rare Breeds sales, the next one of which is in September. There is a Breeders Directory in the Practical Poultry magazine which is very useful too.
dixie chick
Thanks for that - I did think that the Wernlas Collection had a fabulous website - but its good to hear from someone who has bought from them - will go a pay them a visit!
