Oh, good grief!

Recommended Posts

I had a hairy near miss one Christmas when Rosie and I were travelling down to my folks.... car pulled out of a lay-by right in front of us, cars to our right so I couldn't pull out, luckily no-one behind us so I had to brake really suddenly and shot my arm across Rosie who was beside me. Thankfully the roads were dry.

I have been driving 30 years now and I'd swear that it's getting worse. Perhaps it's just more people on the road, but they all travel too fast and too close.

Spoken to the insurers last night and just need to make one more phone call today to get the car booked in.

I do this, instinctively, when having to brake hard, if I have either of my children in the passenger seat. My son (who is now over 6', so hardly a babe in arms!) did say to me once: "Mum, I have a seatbelt on. Your arm would make no difference, and I'd rather you kept both hands on the wheel.".

He does have a point, and looking at it rationally, it's a pretty daft reaction to have, really. I still do it though. :?

I reckon some 4x4 are owned becuase the person driving is a bit rubbish at it - so it keeps them safe (but pity help anyone else!).

OK, people make mistakes and no-one is perfect (except me of course).... but at the very least an apology and concern is in order!
