Guest
Ok so hi. Both my girls went broody a couple of weeks ago which was my fault I forgot they had eggs in their nest box. They have gone back to normal as of Monday last week. But there has still been no eggs. Does anyone know what is wrong ?
Chicken Shirl
Hi, they take a while to get back into the egg laying routine after beeing broody. That's if you let them stay broody for three weeks. If you put them in a cage and stopped them from being broody then I think I'm right in saying that they only take a few days to get back into lay. One of mine has just come back into lay today, it's been only 3 weeks since she stopped being broody. Normally she takes much longer than that, maybe 6 weeks or so. Yours may be different and start sooner or later perhaps. You just have to wait and see, but they will lay again..... They loose condition and weight when they are broody so I would give them some Tuna, hard boiled egg, mealworms, some poultry tonic in their water. Give one of these as a treat in the afternoon, if you are not doing so already. I hope this helps.
Space Chick
My girls have taken anything between 4 days and 8 weeks to come back into lay after being broody, as Shirl says, give them some extra protein and they will build up condition quicker. Mealworms or Tuna in Springwater are both great
