Lesley
If you have a spare bit of land available then I would really recommend a few of these plants. I didn't realise they were perennials when I bought them and I will have to remove a couple of plants at the end of this season so that the remaining ones have space - they should last a few years! I just keep picking lots of lovely little florets. I bought plants but you can buy seeds as well - scroll down for 9 Star.... http://www.plantsofdistinction.co.uk/acatalog/A-Z_of_Vegetables_BROCCOLI.html
chickencam
I haven't seen perennial broccoli before. How caterpillar attractive has it been, just wondering about adding some to my already overcrowded garden. Would it be tall enough to be chicken resistant if protected while small? My girls only come out for an hour or so each day.
Lesley
My plants are still fairly small and would be attacked by hens - in fact, they'd have to be very tall to withstand a hen attack I think They were only planted last autumn and I haven't had any problems with caterpillars yet.........I will be protecting them with enviromesh I think.
