chrissylake59
Hello everyone I am new here and would like some advice please. We have two hens Dorothy and Audrey, for over a year now. Everything is going well although Dorothy is going through her 'broody' stage.. However, my problem is with Audrey who has suddenly decided that she wants to roost on top of our 7 foot high trellis instead of the hen house. This started around the same time that Dorothy went broody. ... Not sure if there is a connection? any ideas and help please! Thanks Chrissy
staceychristie
How did she get up there? Have you clipped her wing feathers? Ours are very good, and know where the food is Never had a broody, as exbatts just seem to get on with the "drop and scarper" Good luck Stacey
Egluntyne
Sometimes they are reluctant to go into the coop at night if there is an infestation of redmite.
Sheilaz
Sometimes they are reluctant to go into the coop at night if there is an infestation of redmite. ....and a broody is a sitting target.... Was going to say exactly the same as Egluntyne!
chrissylake59
No red mite at all. We had a problem with them last year and now know what to look for. We keep hen house very clean and powered! No idea how she gets up the trellis. There is a garden chair slightly underneath, so guess she must use this to hoist herself up.... All very strange Thanks for your help so far Chrissy
