Help! softie or egg stuck? what to do please?

Recommended Posts

Sweetie unusually hadn't laid for a couple of days, she was standing 'fluffed' and 'wide' yesterday afternoon and straining. Some poo was coming out and she was making a little 'oh' sound when it came out. I thought it was a softie as another chook stands similarly with softies. Expected to find one in cube today but didn't. She is still straining today. There was sight of a bit of sac earlier but can't see it now. She isn't mopey and wants to go out with the others. How can I help her pass this. Local vets closed and not very chicken experienced any way. Advices please as soon as possible.

Hi Stacey, just had a feel, her abdomen is not hard at all, she is eating & drinking, have just given her a piece of bread soaked in zolcal. her vent area is a bit mucky, she is usually pristine. Not sure whether to try to put her in warm water or what to do. She is slightly quieter than normal but still scratting about, she is having a sun bathe at the moment.

Thanks Chucky Mama and Egluntyne, Have taken your advice and am just observing, she seems okay at the moment and I and I haven't seen her straining for a while. Just to mention, I only gave her a little corner of bread with a measured dose of Zolcal based on her weight not a whole soaked slice! Sorry if I mislead you.
