aqualiv
We are going away in the summer for two weeks and a friend has kindly said that our two can go to hers and stay with her chickens and one cockerel. Do you think they will get on ok? How about the cockerel? Olivia
Christian
If they are kept separate then fine, if not I wouldn't recommend it. Introducing new hens to an established flock needs to be done slowly, and is usually only done if they will all live together permanently. The pecking order can be quite brutal and not worth it for a two week holiday IMO.
aqualiv
Thank you, I did think the lady that offered seemed very blase about it, saying they would be fine. Will have to think of a plan b
Christian
Have a look at the chicken sitter's list here - viewforum.php?f=24 If no one around locally, then ask at the local bets if there is an animal sitter? They usually advertise and would come over everyday, feed and water the hens and collect eggs. Good luck!
