sewitall Posted May 16, 2010 Share Posted May 16, 2010 My 3 chickens arrived last Thursday and at about lunchtime today one of the ginger nuts "6" (she's going to be the escape artist) laid us our first egg at 50 grams. I'm particularly chuffed because it's my birthday today. DH had taken me to a nice restaurant for lunch where the owners of the restaurant keep a large field of hens and cockerels and we would have been admiring them right at the time when our first egg was being laid at home. I've been spending quite a bit of time with them and yesterday "6" (who had been crouching for me) went into the nest box and spent ages arranging the hemcore just so and throwing hemcore over her own back, with me supplying more hemcore. An hour of me supplying and her throwing over her back I got bored of being cockerel so she came back out again and went about her normal business.
